Valmorel is located at the head of the

Haute Tarentaise valley in the French department

of Savoie (73).

Travelling By Train

Travelling by train is a comfortable and convenient option. The direct Eurostar service from London St Pancras takes just over 7 hours, leaving on Friday night (allowing you to start skiing on Saturday morning) or Saturday morning. You will also avoid the road congestion that can sometimes delay airport transfers. Other journeys by Eurostar and TGV are also possible.

We can arrange transfers from the Eurostar/TGV station at Moutiers, and there is a regular bus service. Guests arriving early on Saturday morning can have a light breakfast, wash and change before going skiing, but access to rooms will not normally be possible until the afternoon.

Guests departing late on Saturday may store their baggage at the chalet (having vacated rooms by 9.30am) for collection later, but dinner will not normally be available in the evening. There are plenty of restaurants and bars around Moutiers Station.

Driving From The UK

Improved ferry services and the Channel Tunnel make driving from the UK convenient and relatively quick. The journey is 943 km and takes just over 8 hours (excluding breaks). Count on using about 83 litres of petrol in a standard saloon car (petrol costs about €1.50 euros per litre in France, journey total about €120 euros) and €84.40 euros in autoroute tolls. These accept euros or sterling cash (but you’ll get your change in euros), and all credit and payment cards. Use the AA or Autoroutes de France route planner to determine your exact route. See below for local route map.

Final part of the route from Albertville (end of the Autoroute section):

• As you leave the Autoroute you will be on the N90, direction Moutiers.
• Follow N90 to Aigueblanche. Exit from N90, indicated Valmorel.
• Take D95 to your destination in Les Avanchers then continue to Le Pré (5 minutes), where Chalet de Valmorel is on the right hand side opposite the lifts.
